Scandia, Alberta June 13, 2015

Scandia, Alberta is one of those places I will have to go back and spend some more time there. I gave it a cursory visit which I think was a mistake. There used to be a rail line here at one time. On the other side of the grain elevator is a historical park.

A very simple Lutheran Church. You find places in Alberta that were settled by Danes, Icelanders, Swedes, Germans, and Norwegians. It must have been a damn tough existence. Someone saved the church as it seems to be from Rolling Hills, Alberta.

The train station is from Jenner, Alberta. Scandia would have had a train station. Moving the one from Jenner here would have been an interesting undertaking, they are over sixty miles apart by road. I am curious as to what happened to the Scandia station.

The store was not open. Looking inside you can see original fixtures and stock. Photos were not possible due to the reflections off the glass. The building is not very big.

The place warrants a return visit. I would like to know where the store came from.
